Please look carefully at the notice below and check whenever anybody comes to do work on gas appliances in your home.

Amendments to the General Permitted Development Order from MHDC

From October 1st 2009 changes to the amount and type of permitted development that may be undertaken without the need for planning permission have been implemented. The details are set out in a Briefing Note. Please note in particular that there are important changes with regard to hard surfaces and more restrictive conditions apply to development in Conservation areas.

Distraction burglaries and bogus callers

Many of you will be aware that in a large proportion of bogus caller/distraction burglary type offences, the offenders often claim to be from "the Water Board". Firstly, there are no longer any "Water Boards" and haven't been any since 1989 (so anyone using the phrase "Water Board" should be viewed with suspicion).

The purpose of this message is to make you aware of a telephone number that can be used in the area covered by Severn Trent - 0800 783 4444 - this number can be used by the public to check the identity of any "water company" doorstep caller. Please share this information, especially with the more elderly or vulnerable people who often get targeted by bogus callers, and encourage them to use this service if called by such a person.

Attention Walkers

For those who like walking, there is a marvellous website that provides details and maps of over 100 walks in Worcestershire. Created by a man called John Harris, you can access free downloads of maps and details of walking groups in Worcestershire, walk books and much more. Just click on the link

One curious thing though: there are no walks listed for Kempsey. Are there keen walkers in Kempsey who would like to see that put right?
