Kempsey is a large and diverse parish in South Worcestershire covering 1307 hectares (5 sq. miles). It now has a population exceeding 4300 in 1750 households. The Parish comprises of Kempsey village plus the settlements of Green Street, Kerswell Green, Stonehall, Baynhall, Napleton, Broomhall, and Clerkenleap.

Kempsey is surrounded by open, tranquil countryside. On its western boundary is the River Severn and its Hams, which are very rare Lammas land. On its southern boundary are Ashmoor Common, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), Normoor Common, and Kerswell Common. On the eastern boundary, we have, Kempsey Common and Stonehall Common. Community facilities in the Parish include a small doctor’s dispensing surgery, Church, village shop and Post Office, farm shop, Primary School, Youth Centre, Parish Hall, Playing Field, Community Centre and six Public Houses.

There are a wide range of businesses in Kempsey: everything from one person working from home, through to larger companies.

Deputy Clerk Vacancy

Vacancy – Deputy Parish Clerk – Part time.

Kempsey Parish Council is seeking a part time Deputy Clerk to support and enhance the services and projects of this large and active Parish Council. The successful applicant will join the Parish Office team to assist the Clerk across a range of activities including the minuting of meetings but with particular responsibility for communications, contracts and facilities management. The Deputy Clerk will act for the Clerk when she is on leave, supported by the Administrative Assistant, and this may occasionally involve evening meetings of the Council.

The position is for 22.5 hours per week in the first instance. The Parish Office is located at WR5 3LQ with onsite parking but working at home one day per week is likely for which a laptop will be provided.

Essential skills for the job are excellent IT skills, good organisational and communications abilities and the ability to work with individuals of varying backgrounds and interests. Applications are welcome from individuals without CILCA qualifications and support for training would be given.

The starting salary is pro rata of SCP 18 (£29,269 p.a.) equivalent to £15.21 per hour plus the opportunity to enrol in the Local Government Pension Scheme.

Road and Footpath Closures

15th July 2024 - There will be a temporary closure of part of U60017 Squires Walk from its junction with C2220 Old Road South to its junction with U60016 Squires Close due to a hydrant renewal by Severn Trent Water. This is expected to remain in force for 3 days and is due to commence on 15th July 2024. For more information, please click here

30th July - 2nd August 2024 - There will be a temporary closure of part of U60018 Church Street from its junction with A38 Main Road to its junction with U60021 Chapel Road due to utility works by Severn Trent Water.
